Children’s Day 2023: talents, quizzes and prayers for the future at LASU
Children from orphanage homes and schools around Ijeododo and Ojo gathered at Lagos State University for the SOVCI May 27th Children’s Day Celebration.

Children from orphanage homes and schools around the Ijeododo and Ojo areas of Ojo Local Government Area came together for the SOVCI May 27th Children’s Day Celebration, organised by Smiles for Orphans and Vulnerable Children Initiative (SOVCI).
The celebration took place at the Julius Berger Hall of the Faculty of Management Science, Lagos State University, Ojo. It featured a mental health talk, quiz competitions, talent shows, and presentations and displays from some of the homes. There was live music by E-Mention Music Group, and the day ended with the cutting of the SOVCI Children’s Day cake. During the event, the children also offered prayers for the new administration, asking that no Nigerian child’s hope or future be cut short.
Every child has potential
According to BusinessDay, SOVCI’s Founder and Team Lead, Euriel Momah, said the event gave the children a fun-filled Children’s Day and a chance to show their talents and meet other children. Every child, he said, has the potential to succeed if given the right environment to grow.
This is one reason SOVCI supports orphanage homes that care for orphaned and vulnerable children. He called on government and companies to do more to secure a happy future for these children.
With thanks to supporters
The organisers said the event was supported by companies including Nestle Nigeria Plc, Arla Foods, Cubas International, Topfingers Group, TSKM Consults, Micro International, the Bible Society of Nigeria and E-Mention Group, as well as many individuals.
