How does SOVCI support orphanage homes in Lagos?

Smiles for Orphans and Vulnerable Children Initiative (SOVCI) is an NGO in Ojo, Lagos State. Its mission is to ensure that every orphan and vulnerable child, irrespective of gender, race and belief, gets the chance to have a happy and fulfilled life. SOVCI raises support for children’s education, feeding, health care and general welfare, and takes that support to orphanage homes through outreaches.

SOVCI’s founder told BusinessDay in 2023 that the group supports orphanage homes that are doing so much to provide for orphaned and vulnerable children (BusinessDay, June 2023 (opens in a new tab)).

What can I donate?

Please contact SOVCI before you deliver items, so that they can be directed where they are needed most. For safety, this website does not publish bank details: ask SOVCI directly through its official channels.

Why does support matter?

For World Orphans Day 2025, SOVCI’s founder, citing UNICEF, said there are about 140 million orphaned children worldwide, including 17.5 million in Nigeria, and that social and economic challenges have made it harder to provide basic necessities for them (PUNCH Healthwise, November 2025 (opens in a new tab)).

“Let us come together to make a difference in the lives of orphaned children.”

In Lagos, registered orphanage homes work under standards set by the Ministry of Youths and Social Development; read our context story on Lagos standards for orphanage homes.
