Volunteer with orphans in Lagos
Join Smiles for Orphans and Vulnerable Children Initiative (SOVCI) in Ojo, Lagos: help with outreaches to orphanage homes, Children’s Day celebrations and school-kit days.

Who are we looking for?
Smiles for Orphans and Vulnerable Children Initiative (SOVCI) is a non-governmental organisation in Ojo, Lagos State, that stands with orphans, vulnerable children and the orphanage homes that care for them. On its first website, SOVCI asked a simple question of people who might join: are you passionate about the plight of orphans and vulnerable children, and ready to offer selfless, sacrificial and sincere service of care? If the answer is yes, we would love to hear from you.
What do SOVCI volunteers help with?
Volunteering with SOVCI means helping with the activities we already run in Ojo. Press reports and our own records describe these:
- Outreaches to orphanage homes — delivering food, drinks and household supplies gathered for the homes.
- Children’s Day celebrations — in 2023 at the Julius Berger Hall of Lagos State University (LASU), with a mental health talk, quiz competitions, talent shows and live music (BusinessDay, June 2023 (opens in a new tab)); in 2024 at the LASU Students’ Arcade under the theme “Made For More”, with 12 orphanage homes invited (BusinessDay, June 2024 (opens in a new tab)).
- School-kit days for Streets to School — on the International Day of Education 2024, SOVCI and the LASU Faculty of Education gave school kits to pupils of public schools in Iba LCDA, Ojo (PM News, January 2024 (opens in a new tab)).
- Awareness events — such as the “Sing for Hope, Give for Change” concert and fundraiser announced for World Orphans Day 2025 at Makanjuola Hall, LASU (PUNCH Healthwise, November 2025 (opens in a new tab)).
Why volunteer with orphans in Lagos?
SOVCI’s founder, Euriel Momah, has said that every child has the potential to succeed if given the right environment to grow. Children’s Day, he told BusinessDay, is a chance for children from different homes to have fun, show their talents and meet other children.
“They are made for more, and they will work towards achieving that.”
How do I volunteer?

To protect their privacy and dignity, SOVCI does not publish photos of children’s faces on this website.
